Benefiet Voodoo Rhythm Records – 20 februari Patronaat

Persbericht Patronaat:
Patronaat heeft altijd een sterke band gehad met Voodoo Rhythm Records. We kunnen dan ook met trots zeggen dat zo ´n 90% van de bands van het label al een keer op het podium van Patronaat hebben gestaan.

Helaas zijn er barre tijden voor Voodoo Rhythm aangebroken en daarvoor zal er vanavond een speciaal benefiet zijn om dit label van de ondergang te redden. Hier een kleine uitleg van Reverend Beat-Man (eigenaar Voodoo Rhythm) over de situatie:

I have treated bands very fairly since I’ve started Voodoo Rhythm and have given them their records for cost price so that they could make a solid profit when selling their records on tour. I did approach the SUISA (Copyright Company, musicians’ union) and informed them of the nature of my agreement with the bands. Unfortunately I never put it in writing.

Now that is exactly the problem: The SUISA demands payback of a total of 42.500 Swiss Franks (roughly 38.000 US $). Basically they want money for productions that had long been settled. The bitter irony is that bands of course prefer free copies of their album, yet the Suisa is oblivious to this fact and demand the money within 30 days. If we cannot meet their demands we might have to shut down business. Therefore we kindly ask for your support. Even if we can pay we will not be able to offer the bands the same deal as before.

We hope you can help us. We don’t want to quit, we want to resume or work and our journey.

Met andere woorden: het ligt in jouw handen of Voodoo Rhythm door kan gaan of niet! Zorg dat je er bij bent, want dit wordt een hele speciale avond. We beloofden meer info en die is er dan ook.

Veel bands hebben zich meteen gemeld toen ze van dit benefiet lucht kregen, dus dit wordt een bomvolle avond. Acts die o.a. langs zullen komen zijn The Pedro Delgadoes, Stinky Lou & the Goon Mat (B), Sore Losers (members from El Guapo Stuntteam), Sixtyniners, Lo-Lite, Low Point Drains, ET Explore Me en Psyllibilly dj’s.

Ondertussen is bekend geworden dat niemand minder dan PETER PAN SPEEDROCK deze avond af zal sluiten!
